Would you like visiting the city while having lots of fun? I warmly suggest you to go for a guided tour of Rome by Segway! Believe me, you’ll love it – Segway is a safe, silent and eco-friendly vehicle, tour guides are nice and experienced, and tours will let you touch quickly and without effort all most famous and beautiful spots of town.

Rome by SegwayThe organization: GetYourGuide

Among all available organizations, I selected the one that – in my opinion – is the most serious and professional. They rely on the best agencies in town and offers very competitive prices, granting a premium customer service. Additionally – in most cases – full refund of the price in the event of cancellation up until the day before (check conditions of each single offer!). Tours can be very simply booked online, and GetYourGuide offers a variety of other services that you may find useful as well: group guided tours also abroad Rome, a really clever ticketing service for Vatican Museums, main archaeological sites and museums allowing you to skip the line… have a look HERE to see their website!

But… is this not dangerous?

Absolutely not! Before starting the tour, you’ll be trained on how to drive your Segway in complete safety, you will have the chance to exercise enough and you’ll be given a helmet. The Segway tour of Rome will not start until you feel ready, and the tour guide will pay continuous attention to your movements; you’ll not have to drive between the cars in the traffic, but on pavements like pedestrians.

How are tours arranged?

You’ll become part of a small group with other participants and will be escorted by an experienced and grownup tour guide, who will give you explanations – depending on the tour and the day you’ve booked – in different languages: Italian, English, German, Spanish, French…
Each tour includes a series of stops for accessing the monuments not requiring an entrance fee. Of course, depending on time limits given by the duration of each tour, you’ll not be able to make visits requiring long time, but you’ll however get the general idea; after, you’ll be able to dedicate more time to a deeper visit of the spots you liked most.

Who can drive a Segway?

For visiting Rome by Segway, one must be between 16 and 75 years old, and must weigh between 45 and 113Kg (between 100 and 250 pounds). Under-18 minors must be accompanied by an adult. Pregnant ladies are not allowed, unfortunately.

Which tour should I choose?

In my opinion, top are the Segway tours of Rome lasting the whole day and including lunch as well. That’s perfect when you have limited time to visit the city, as in one day only you’ll see all what you would see in three days on foot. You can find an example HERE but others are available as well. GetYourGuide displays indeed a lot of alternatives, also shorter/cheaper, to visit Rome by Segway, you can find them all HERE.

I wish you a good time!
